My First Time in the Music Studio: The making of “Fever”

I’m so excited to share my experience of stepping into a music studio for the very first time. As an aspiring singer and songwriter, this was a dream come true for me. Let me take you back to that unforgettable day, August 11, 2017 (16 years old), when I had the opportunity to collaborate with the talented Ben James in Saigon, Vietnam.

Ben started writing “Fever” and thought it would be the right fit for me. We sat down together and started brainstorming ideas for our song. We wanted to create something that would resonate with people, something that would make them feel complete. And that’s when it hit me—I didn’t need someone else to make me whole. I had the power to make myself complete.

In that moment, I realized that I didn’t have to conform to society’s expectations. I didn’t have to give up on my dreams and settle for a 9-to-5. I was my own artist, and I had the creative control to write songs that truly represented me.

With newfound determination, I poured my heart and soul into the lyrics and melody of our song. Ben, being an incredible producer, helped bring our vision to life. It was a collaboration where my voice and ideas were valued and respected.

The experience of co-creating “Fever” was both cool and random. It was a whirlwind of emotions, excitement, and pure joy. And let me tell you, this was just the beginning. I’m only 23 years old (2024) and about to graduate from college in a few months. 

So, here’s to embracing our dreams and not letting anyone or anything hold us back. Life is too short to live with indecisiveness. I am my own artist, and I’m ready to take on the world, one song at a time.
